Drug induced nutrient depletion caused by prescription drugs side effects is a hidden and unrecognized danger to you if you take prescription drugs.
Nutrient depletion can leave you vulnerable to oxidative stress and free radical damage, that can accelerate the aging process!
Prescription Drugs Side Effects
Modern pharmaceuticals are designed primarily to treat the symptoms of chronic disease, and to be proprietary molecules.
Any consideration of side effects or nutrient depletion is secondary to their main purpose. In other words they are not made to be safe.
This borders on criminally negligent, but unfortunately that is the state of modern drug therapy.
It falls on each one of us to make sure we are protected from drug side effects including nutrient depletion. That is the reason I wrote this page!
Drug Induced Nutrient Depletion
Hyla Cass M.D. An integrative medicine physician believes that prescription drug side effects come from depletion of nutrients, rather than the actual toxicity of the drugs.
For what it’s worth, I agree, sort of. I think its a combination of drug toxicity AND nutrient depletion. Whatever the case, its something you should not ignore.
It can be life threatening! You will have to educate yourself about this, because nobody else will.
Below are some examples that can occur with the drugs you may be taking:
- Acid blockers – deplete zinc and iron
- Aspirin – deplete iron and folic acid, hamper absorption of vitamin-c
- Beta blockers – deplete co-enzyme q-10
- Blood pressure drugs – deplete co-enzyme q-10 and B-6
- Corticosteroids – deplete magnesium, potassium, zinc, copper, selenium and calcium
- Diabetes drugs – depletes co-enzyme q-10, B-12, and folic acid
- Diuretics – deplete magnesium, potassium, zinc, calcium, B-6, and vitamin-c
- Statins (cholesterol lowering drugs – seriously deplete co-enzyme q-10
- Synthetic hormones – deplete magnesium, zinc, vitamin-c, B-12, B2, and folic acid
If you are noticing a pattern here its because many of these drugs deplete the same vital minerals and B vitamins from your body. Prescription drug side effects have potentially fatal consequences!
What To Do
Hopefully I have gotten your attention about this problem. Americans are 20th in the world in life expectancy. Yes that’s right……20th!!! That means people in 19 other countries outlive us on average. Pretty bad for a country that supposedly has the best health care.
Prescription drugs side effects including drug induced nutrient depletion are no doubt at least partly responsible for this disparity in lifespans between Americans and the rest of the developed world.
You don’t want to be part of this trend, and you can protect yourself in two ways. First understand that prescription drug therapy is largely unnecessary, and in fact causes more health problems than it solves, both through nutrient depletion and toxicity.
Avoid drug therapy whenever possible by:
- Eating healthy
- Getting regular exercise
- Using nutritional supplements
- See a holistically oriented physician who uses nutritional therapies whenever possible in his or her practice
Drug induced nutrient depletion is something that should NOT happen to you if you use common sense and don’t succumb to the fraud perpetrated by the drug industry. Drugs do not, cannot, and will not make you healthy. Your health is on YOUR hands.
